Water leak detection FAQ: frequently asked questions

Hidden leaks, water ingress, non-destructive methods, technical reports, prices and insurance cover: here are AXPRO's answers to the most common questions. This water leak detection FAQ covers the questions we hear most often.

Recherche de fuite par caméra thermique : lecture d'une image infrarouge, AXPRO Fuite après compteur : test de pression d'une installation d'eau, AXPRO Rapport pour l'assurance : inspection caméra avec fluorescéine, AXPRO

What is non-destructive leak detection?

It is a method that pinpoints the origin of a leak without needlessly breaking walls, floors or ceilings. Depending on the situation, AXPRO combines a thermal camera, tracer gas, acoustic detection, pressure tests, dyes and an inspection camera.

Will my insurance reimburse leak detection?

In many cases, yes. After the intervention we can write an illustrated technical report for your insurer. Reimbursement depends on your policy and the insurer's agreement. General information on home insurance is published by Assuralia.

How much does leak detection cost?

AXPRO's diagnostic package is €390 excl. VAT: one hour on site, one technician, up to three methods and a technical report, travel not included. All methods and prices are listed on the pricing page, and the estimated cost is given to you before the intervention.

How does an intervention work?

We first analyse your situation on site, then carry out the investigations with the most suitable equipment. Once the leak is located, we explain our findings and can write a report for your insurer.

What equipment do you use to locate a leak?

Depending on the case: thermal camera, tracer gas, acoustic device, moisture meter, endoscope camera, pipe inspection camera, fluorescent dyes, smoke and pressure testing. Techniques are chosen according to the type of leak and the installation.

Do I have to break a wall or floor before you come?

No. The aim is precisely to avoid unnecessary openings. If an opening turns out to be necessary, it can then be limited to the area actually affected.

How soon will I receive the technical report?

The report is usually sent within a few days of the intervention. It covers the findings, the tests carried out, the results, photographs, our conclusions and recommendations. Faster handling may be possible depending on urgency and availability.

How long does leak detection take?

Most interventions last between one and three hours, depending on complexity, access to the installations and the techniques needed. A complex situation may need further investigation or a second visit.

Which areas does AXPRO cover?

AXPRO mainly works in Brussels, Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant, and in several regions of Belgium depending on the job. Travel is charged according to the area.
